LWG Makes First Capital Investment into ASE – 180 Days After Acquisition

Leeds West Groups (LWG) is proud to announce their first long-term secured capital investment into Auto Service Experts (ASE), a 42 store Midas Auto Service chain founded in 1957. LWG’s first capital investment comes exactly 180 days after LWG’s purchase of ASE on January 2nd, 2018.

ASE a Division of LWG has officially acquired the real estate of ASE’s three Wichita, KS Midas locations into the ASE portfolio, on Tuesday July 31st, 2018.

LWG Adds Store Number 98 – Thornton, CO Midas

Leeds West Groups (LWG) is proud to announce the acquisition of it’s newest automotive repair shop location in Thornton, CO, and will assume operations effective on Monday July 23rd, 2018.

This new location will be under the Management of District Manager Ian Gnadt out of the LWG Denver, CO Midas region. Transforming this location will be approached using our precise LWG process – revolving around our focus on customer service, ensuring the customer is always the priority. This location will offer the full brand of Midas services.

Leeds West Groups (LWG) Buys Auto Systems Experts (ASE) in Largest Single Midas Acquisition by a Midas Franchisee

Leeds West Groups (LWG) have entered into an agreement to acquire Auto Systems Experts (ASE), an employee-owned company based out of Davenport, IA that operates 42 Midas locations in six states in the Midwest with a full complement of Midas’ automotive services.

The planned acquisition includes all of ASE locations, real estate holdings, buildings, and equipment, making it the largest single acquisition by a Midas franchisee in Midas history. Alan S. Mahrt, the former president of ASE will serve as Chief Operating Officer of the new division of Leeds West Groups.

Leeds West Groups is a capital group that acquires, owns, and manages Midas, Big O Tires, SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service, locations in nine states, that currently, before the ASE acquisition, touches over 20% of the US in markets with 55 franchise locations spread across Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut.  The new ASE acquisition boosts LWG’s holdings to 97 locations, across 15 states and 850 employees making it collectively, the largest Midas, Big O Tires, SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service automotive group in the nation.

The transaction has been approved by each ASE and LWG respective Board of Directors and is subject to customary closing requirements and regulatory approvals. Financial terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.

In conjunction with the acquisition, Leeds West Groups has named current Board of Directors Member Joshua A. Weinreich as Chairman of the Board of LWG. Josh Weinreich is a career finance executive.  He retired in 2004 after 20 years on Wall Street after serving in senior positions at Bankers Trust Co. and Deutsche Bank, including Global Head of Hedge Funds and Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Asset Management, Americas. Mr. Weinreich chairs the Board of Leeds West Group.  He is an independent Director of Skybridge Capital Hedge Fund Portfolios and House Party, Inc., and is on the Advisory Board of Primary Venture Partners. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of Alliance Bernstein (2013 – 2017),  as a Member of the Newark Academy Board of Trustees (2009 – 2014), and Member of the Cornell University Endowment Hedge Fund Subcommittee (2002 – 2012). Mr. Weinreich is currently Board Chair of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, and Chief Investment Officer of Overlook Hospital Foundation.  He is a graduate of Cornell University and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.  He resides in Summit, New Jersey.

Additionally, Mr. David H. Byron Smith, Jr. JD, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Leeds West Groups. Mr. Smith currently serves as Executive Vice President for Policy & Legal Affairs and General Counsel at the Mutual Fund Directors Forum in Washington DC. Mr. Smith also holds a seat on the Board of Directors of Northern Trust Bank since April 20, 2010 and Illinois Tool Works (ITW) since December 4, 2009. ITW owns companies such as Deltar, RainX, Wynn’s, Densit, Miller Welding, Hobart, Ramset and Zip Pak to name just a few.

Founded in 1957, Auto Systems Experts, Inc. (ASE) is one of the oldest Midas franchisees in the country providing comprehensive diagnostics and repair of all major automotive systems. Prior to the acquisition ASE was 100% employee-owned under an employee stock option plan.

In 2013, Leeds West Group acquired 30 Midas corporate stores in nine states in an arrangement to convert Midas corporate shops into franchised locations. At the time of the transaction it was the largest single Midas store purchase by a franchisee in the company’s history.

Lamborn specifically has lead his team to assume “Top Midas Shop Sales” for all LWG Midas locations nationwide.

Lamborn will oversee 6 of the Midas locations in the Colorado Springs and Pueblo, CO region.

LWG Announces Addition to Senior Management Team

The Leeds West Group (LWG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tim Moran to the newly created position of Regional Vice President of East Coast Operations.  In Mr. Moran’s new position, he will be responsible for the operational success of LWG’s east coast division. Mr. Moran will report to Jeff Genuario, Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Moran joins LWG from Autopart International (AI) where he most recently served as Director of Strategic Accounts. His 24 years of automotive aftermarket experience with large, multi-location accounts and store operations will be a big asset to LWG’s growing organization.

Leeds West Groups (LWG) is proud to announce the opening of our newest shop location in Aurora, CO. LWG has purchased the Tires Plus location on 796 S Abilene Street, and will be re-branding it into a Big O Tires location with a grand opening expected on June 1, 2017.

This new location will be under the District Management of Mr. Wil Cancanon. Transforming this location will be approached using our precise LWG process – revolving around our focus on customer service, ensuring the customer is always a priority. This location will offer the full brand of Big O Tires products, along with full auto repair services.
